Start your journey. Support the herd

3 hrWHOAS

Service Description

Discover what it means to support Alberta’s wild horses. Our Volunteer Orientation gives you a quick introduction to WHOAS—who we are, how we work within Alberta’s feral horse management framework, and the many ways volunteers help care for rescued horses and support public education. You’ll get a tour of the rescue facility, learn safety basics, meet the horses in care, and explore the volunteer roles available. Please note: To sign up for Volunteer Orientation, you must be a current WHOAS member.

ABOUT US

Wild Horses of Alberta Society’s mission is to ensure the provision of all aspects of the conservation and humane treatment of wild horses in Alberta.  We are committed to the preservation of these magnificent animals in their natural environment.

Land Acknowledgement

Here in the foothills, we walk on the traditional territories of the Îyârhe Nakoda, Niitsitapi, and Tsuut’ina Nations, and the homeland of the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.

These lands have long been home to the stories of people and horses. We honour the First Peoples who care for this land, and we honour the wild horses who still run free upon it.
